Interarts Instrument Course
The Interartes Instrument Course is an artistic path for students aged 8 and over, available for all instruments. Organized into eight progressive levels.
It combines instrumental practice, musical training, creativity and performance, promoting autonomy and artistic awareness.
The structure is flexible, adapting to the maturity and pace of each student.
Each level includes individual lessons, integrated musical training, and, starting at Level III, collective work in an ensemble or combo. Advanced levels include aural training, music history, musical technologies, and a final recital.
Overview
I – Initiation: first contacts with the instrument, posture, sound and musical reading.
II – Consolidation: reading, scales, chords and first improvisations.
III – Set: ensemble practice, active listening and collective accompaniment.
IV – Expression: technical and interpretative mastery in various styles (classical, pop, jazz).
V – Advanced: improvisation, composition and group performance.
VI – Musical Language: professional reading and artistic identity.
VII – Creation: composition and production using musical technology.
VIII – Final Project: recital or authorial project that synthesizes the entire journey.
Assessment
Assessment is continuous and formative, monitoring individual progress in technique, expressiveness and autonomy. Teachers record progress in each class and carry out two consolidation moments:
- Formative – continuous monitoring and feedback.
- Summative – practical instrument test and, when applicable, theoretical test.
This model ensures a fair and personalized assessment, focused on the student's actual progress and not just the final result — reinforcing a coherent, transparent, and motivating education.
Music for Babies
The world of sounds is also available to babies! Music, games, experiments with musical instruments, movement, and many other activities, in classes led by teachers Rita Onofre and Sara Magid.
Audio and Music Production
Audio and Music Production classes take advantage of Interartes' excellent facilities, including a recording studio. They are organized into courses and modules or weekly individual lessons. Students have the opportunity to learn how to record a band and create and produce their own music. We use major operating systems and a variety of software, including Cubase, Nuendo, Logic Pro, Studio One, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, and Reaper.
The Audio course modules are organized as follows:
- Level 1 - 8 hours
- Level 2 - 8 hours
- Level 3 - 16 hours
- Level 4 - 24 hours
Choir
Our choir meets on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. Led by Juliana Branco, the choir performs a varied repertoire, performing pop, jazz, gospel, and classical music.
The choir performs regularly in concert, both solo and accompanying the school's student bands.
Street Beats
Street Beats is our urban percussion class, which uses everyday objects to create music. The class is led by Miguel Marques. "Practice sessions" take place on Saturday mornings.
Home Classes
Interartes can be available in person or online from your home. Online classes use the most common platforms, such as Skype or Zoom. These methods are more flexible and may be advantageous for some students. Home classes are available throughout the municipality of Cascais.
